Creepy, Crawly Fun at the Orlando Science Center
Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Orlando’s theme parks offer up lots of scrumptious treats. From Mickey Mouse ice cream bars Disney’s Magic Kingdom to Butterbeer at Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter, there’s seemingly something for every taste.

But nothing quite compares to the fare that will be available at the Orlando Science Center as it gets set to open a new exhibit called “Harry’s Big Adventure: My Bug World!” Throughout the exhibit’s stay, the weekend menu will include some tasty edible insects such as Crispy Cajun Crickets – high in protein and low in fat.  Insects are included in the diets of many throughout the world. This is your chance to see what all the fuss is about! The exhibit features thousands of insects and kids will have the opportunity to touch many. You can see more than 500 ants, 500 American roaches, 500 hissing cockroaches, mealworms, termites, water scorpions, diving beetles and more. Of course, there are also some for those who don’t exactly like bugs… including butterflies and ladybugs.  The exhibit gets extra buggy on weekends, when special activities include a bug chef, cockroach races and a cricket-spitting contest “Harry’s Big Adventure: My Bug World!” is included in regular science center admission, beginning Sept. 24 and running through Jan. 1, 2012.
