2009 ESPN The Weekend is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Feb. 27-Mar. 1, 2009.

The annual event will feature ESPN live telecasts and taping, ESPN Radio live broadcasts, the ESPN Interactive Sportszone and a long list of guest athletes and ESPN personalities.

 Four rare white alligators will be on display at Gatorland through Labor Day.  It is thought that only 12 such gators survive in the United States.

Unlike a more common albino alligator with pink eyes, these eerie reptiles found in a Louisiana swamp offer steely blue eyes and a pigmentation referred to as leucistic (loo-SIS-tic).  They were among 17 gator hatchlings plucked from a nest by a fisherman in 1987.  The white skin tone would have made the young gators easy prey, so they were taken to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.

While at Gatorland, the white wonders will be kept in individual pens complete with a dock, water area, cypress logs, vegetation and a mural featuring a Cajun scene.  Visitors can see the animals through a glass viewing area.  They will also be protected against any direct sunlight that would result in dangerous sunburn and infection.
